All natural light, at a park, a beach, or your own backyard. We'll shoot when your kids are at their best, not at the hour photographers prefer. Wrangling everyone that day is my job, not yours.

You'll get a styling guide when you book. What to wear, what to skip, what actually photographs well. Nobody spends the week before guessing.

Where we shoot

I keep a running list for every season and time of day. We'll pick together, or we'll shoot in your own backyard, which is more often the right answer than people expect.

Gillson Beach & Park, Wilmette. Golden hour on the water. Best in September before the wind turns.

Elder Lane Beach, Winnetka. Quieter than Gillson, and small enough that a toddler can't get far.

The Glen, Glenview. Open sky, easy parking, forgiving if somebody won't hold still.

The Grove, Glenview. Woods and old buildings. The one that looks least like everyone else's photos.

The Winnetka bluffs. Height and water in the same frame. Worth the stairs.

Kenilworth's tree-lined streets. Ten days in October when it looks like nowhere else in Illinois.

Your backyard. Zero drive time, nobody's car seat to unbuckle, and it's the place your kids are actually themselves.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • You'll get my full style guide when you book. Short version, soft neutrals, one accent color, comfortable, coordinated, not matching, and no big logos. Start with one person, usually you, and build everyone else around her.

  • Then we have a normal toddler. Snack break, reset, keep going. Some of my favorite frames come right after the tears.

  • We reschedule, free, no drama. Overcast is often better light than sun, so we only move for actual rain.

  • September and October dates go first, usually by mid-August. If holiday cards are the goal, work backward. Printing takes two weeks and your gallery takes two, so the third week of October is your last relaxed date.

  • Sixty minutes, and we use all of it. The first ten minutes everyone is aware of me. By minute twenty nobody is. That's where the photos are.
